Ann and I brainstorm often. She has a gift for seeing things the exact opposite of me – not better, not worse, just opposite. We were talking about how even the Cadence theme can be too complicated for some clients. You have to go into the customizer, set up the header, click on the logo, do navigation menu, set the colors, have a color palette… Why do we need all that for 99% of people when we already know you can talk to a dude and he can just give you a full website?

I created a brand new InstaWP site, installed the Cadence theme (free) and Simple Site plugin. Then I went to Google Gemini in a browser – not Claude, not Cursor, just Gemini in the wilds – and said: “Make me a gorgeous, multiple-panel HTML5 WordPress website about how to be awesome using WordPress, make it in the colors you find at WPLaunchify.com.”

That’s a horrifically stupid prompt. But in 30 seconds I had a beautiful site with navigation, buttons, logo, the whole thing. Then I asked for a contact page in the same style. Then a video page with a YouTube embed. Three pages, all matching, all gorgeous, all done by just talking to an AI and pasting code.

The contact page even had my email (help@wplaunchify.com), my socials, and a form – all figured out by Gemini from looking at my site. The video page embedded today’s Office Hours and picked up on all my branding. Unbelievable.

John Lawlor’s Feature Request – Added LIVE

John asked: “Can you add versioning so we can go back and forth to previous versions like regular WordPress posts?” Great question. I messaged Enrique (my dude who wrote the plugin) live on stream. He said yes, added revision history, and pushed version 1.4 – all while we were still talking. Click “Revision History” at the bottom of Simple Site and you can restore any previous version with one click.

Canva AI for Logos

For logos, I showed how Canva AI can make something instantly. The difference: Google Gemini spits out ice cream and you get what you get. Canva gives you editorial – if you like something you can refine it further. Just say “Make me a logo that’s 250 pixels wide by 100 pixels high with orange colors representing something to do with launching or tech” and you’re good.
