The Real Problem: Great Tools, Locked In Boxes

Most of us are paying for four of the five frontier tools — Anthropic, ChatGPT, Gemini, and maybe Grok — on top of desktop agents like Goose, Cursor, and OpenCode. Each one is brilliant in its own window, and each one is a silo. Claude knows how you write. Cursor knows your code. And you end up doing the thing I have complained about for a year: copy, paste, copy, paste, copy, paste, all day long. That is not a workflow. That is friction pretending to be one.

The premise today is the same one I have pushed from day one: put everything you own — or everything your client owns — into one box you control, with the right modern tools and the right drivers. Then let any agent, from anywhere, drive that box. You should not have to work inside one vendor’s chat to get value out of the tool you already pay for.

Connect Your Agent: One Key, One Paste

In the free Plugin Manager there is a tab called Connect Your Agent. Click one button and it generates a key. What you actually copy is the Connection Bundle — the site, the key, and the single instruction your agent needs. If you want to hand out less than everything, there is a “limit to specific scopes” option; out of the box it does all of them. Every key you have ever made is listed so you can reuse or revoke it.

For Claude there is one setting to flip once: go to profile, settings, capabilities, scroll to the domain allow list, turn on allow network egress, and switch from package manager only to all domains. After that you simply paste the bundle and hit enter. It works the same in regular chat, in co-work, or in Claude Code — makes no difference. A moment later: connection live. You have now connected an outside tool to operate everything inside your MinuteLaunch site.

Right Tool, Right Job: The Token Economics

This is where owning the connection layer pays off. The frontier labs took a mountain of money and their motives are not aligned with yours — the plan is to lock people in and crank up token cost later. Meanwhile the Chinese models watched the fire-hose approach and built the little straw: Kimi runs around eighteen dollars round trip on OpenRouter where Fable 5 is sixty. Anthropic felt it and rushed out a discounted “Opus 5” near thirty to compete.

The move is not to pick one. It is to run the hard thinking on a flat-rate subscription that is heavily subsidized right now — my $200-a-month Claude plan runs effectively forever — and put the bulk and background work on cheap OpenRouter models like Kimi, DeepSeek, or Grok 4.5. Right tool for the right job. Skip Haiku and Sonnet for real work; that is asking the landscaper to write your ad copy to save a couple of bucks.

Guardrails: The AI Budget Manager

The moment other people — team members, clients — can drive your site, you need controls. The new AI Usage panel sits next to the API Key Manager (OpenRouter, SERP, and the rest, most of which start free). You can enforce guardrails, allow every model or only a chosen set, and put a hard dollar cap in place. I run “allow every model” with an eighteen-dollar cap so I can reach all the way up to a Kimi-class model but never accidentally fire off one Fable question and burn fifty dollars. Then you see usage by model, by source, and by user — so you know exactly who is going crazy and why.

One Shared Desk: Workspace and GitHub

Everything an agent makes lands in the Workspace — the same files on your laptop, on the site in the cloud, and pushed to GitHub as backup, with full version history and signed links that share a copy without exposing your key. I have about 125 repositories because I never want to lose anything, and connecting GitHub is one step: open the Workspace GitHub tab, create a personal access token, paste it in, and connect all your repositories.

It also goes straight to live. Right now an agent in Claude is developing MinuteLaunch Persona: when it makes a change it deploys immediately and saves the copy back into the repository on my site. I went to my kid’s camp, I had a power outage — none of that matters anymore, because the work is not trapped on one machine. It is on a site I own, backed up, and reachable from any agent, everywhere, all the time.

MinuteLaunch Desktop: The Air Traffic Controller

When many agents work at once, something has to keep them from bumping into each other. MinuteLaunch Desktop is that air traffic controller. It ties together four things: GitHub, a connection to one or more folders on your actual desktop so local files sync up and down, a file tree that exposes everything the agents have created on the site (think SFTP for your website, not the media library), and a job board.

The job board is the fascinating part. Any agent can create a job and track it — queued, in progress, done, failed — and any other agent, anywhere, can see it and pick up the work. There are built-in rules, like GitHub, so one agent does not overwrite or delete what another just finished. Give your agents a desk. And because Claude has scheduling and co-work, you can stand up a whole crew of agents whose tools all become your tools, working one site — or, using one site as the hub, every client site you manage at once.
