Live with Doug Shehan: Building a Complete Site in 3 Minutes Using Simple Site + AI
Today I’m joined by my good friend and client Doug Shehan to show you something remarkable. Doug is building a Formula One racing junior drivers platform, and we set up his entire site in just 3 minutes – something that would have taken 2-3 hours minimum before. This is a live demonstration of Simple Site in action, with real-world tips and tricks you can use today. We built forms, created emails, generated thumbnails, and published content – all while talking live on camera.
“The difference between success and failure in this world? It’s getting to the outcome fast. We don’t have to automate everything. Me clicking a button and telling the dude, whatever. But what I’ve told it was, I want it to go ahead and give me the information in a format that’s ready to use that builds a form that will add the contact to the CRM and also redirect to people, and all of it is being built from one interface that I can save this prompt, reuse it.”
3 Minutes: From Zero to Complete Site
Doug came to me with a vision: a scalable platform for Formula One racing junior drivers. Using Simple Site, we literally pushed a button, installed one plugin, and had his entire site structure ready in just 3 minutes. Previously, even with knowledge, this would have been a 2-3 hour minimum setup process. Now? It’s faster than ordering a pizza.
What makes this possible? Simple Site Focus Mode transforms the entire WordPress experience into just one or two links. For clients like Doug who have zero WordPress knowledge, this is everything. They don’t need to understand “install a theme,” “set up the header,” “what’s a page,” “what’s a post.” They just see the whole site setup, and that’s it. Nothing else.
Miro Miro: The Color Extraction Secret
One of the coolest tricks I showed Doug today is the Miro Miro Chrome extension. This free tool gives you instantly the ability to figure out what any page is made out of – what are the colors, fonts, styles. You can even export them if you want. But here’s the magic: you can drag your mouse over the color palette, copy it, and paste it directly into Simple Site’s built-in AI agent.
I demonstrated this by taking Doug’s existing design, extracting the color scheme with Miro Miro, and then telling the AI agent: “Make a new sales panel for this page about the value of choosing the right tires on your formula one race car for juniors and use these colors and the same styles as the other panels that are on the side already of the page you’re in the site you’re in.” The AI built it perfectly, matching the existing design automatically.
Building Forms Without Form Builders
Who wants to use form builders when you can just tell the AI agent what you need? I demonstrated creating a FluentCRM onboarding form with the same color schemes as the rest of the site, with four choices of skill level (newbie, beginner, intermediate, advanced), and custom thank you pages based on their choice.
The form bypasses all the complexity of form builders and makes something that will send the person right into the CRM. All of this can be done once and then in the future never have to be done again. You can literally have it fully automated from there because these are skills that you can just have your AI agent operate on an automated basis.
We built a complex form that:
- Collects first name, last name, email
- Includes a dropdown for skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced)
- Collects the son’s name (for Doug’s racing platform)
- Automatically adds contacts to FluentCRM with appropriate tags
- Redirects to different landing pages based on skill level selection
- Matches the site’s color scheme automatically
All of this was built by simply telling the AI agent what we needed. No form builder interface. No complex configuration. Just natural language instructions.
Fathom Integration: Auto-Extract Contacts & Create Emails
One of the coolest features we demonstrated is the Fathom integration. When you’re having calls with clients, Fathom automatically gets all of the data and brings it into your site. The built-in AI agent can analyze these calls and extricate contact information, then automatically add people to your CRM.
Even better, it can create follow-up emails based on the conversation. I showed Doug how to paste a Fathom transcript into Simple Site and tell the AI: “Summarize this call I had with Fred and add these people to my CRM. Make a beautiful HTML5 email that says ‘Hey Spence, it was awesome talking to you. I hope to talk to you again.’ Make it look like it was written on a word processor, signed by my assistant AI, Fernando. Make it look like a piece of paper floating on a page.”
The AI created the email, extracted the contact information, and we were able to add the person to FluentCRM with one button click. This content can be saved as a skill or a block or as a reusable section. You can leverage FluentCRM and its SMTP connection to send out and then memorialize any conversations with clients after a call.
AI Image Generation: Creating Thumbnails During Live Calls
Here’s something crazy: I demonstrated creating a YouTube thumbnail for this very video while we were still live on the call. The Media Library has built-in AI image generation capabilities. I uploaded a photo of myself, told the AI: “Make a photo realistic image of this guy talking on a stream yard call to another fellow with a great beard and a hat and they’re talking about building WordPress websites the new way with minute launch.”
The AI generated the image, I copied it to Canva, added the text “With Doug Shehan & Simple Site,” and we had a complete thumbnail ready to publish. This entire process happened while we were still live on the call. That’s how fast this workflow is.
Export/Import & Full Site Replication
Simple Site has an export function that takes whatever you built in your primary site and gives you all of the versions of it, including the individual components. You can export it, and in as fast as export-import, you’ve got the full site ready to go for the new client with the details.
Doug’s vision is to build hundreds, maybe thousands of race car driver sites. We don’t need to build those from scratch. When we use this tool, this could be the creation tool that is used to then send the stuff to the actual sites of the people. If I nuked your whole site, I could rebuild it. All of those protections are native to this.
Important point: Ownership & Control. When you’re using the MinuteLaunch system, you are never trapped. If you build something with Simple Site, you don’t lose the content you built when you stop paying. You’ll keep everything you made. You won’t make anything new, but since everything you made is in HTML, that’s a really fair bargain because you can take any of this stuff and go anywhere with it.
Plugin Manager: One-Button Updates
One of the most frustrating parts of WordPress is plugin updates. It can take an hour to update some plugins. The MinuteLaunch Plugin Manager changes all of that. One button, and this is all that needs to be updated with the toggles of which features you’re using. There’s only a handful that are necessary because the plugin manager of WordPress was insanity, and still is.
When you turn off the MinuteLaunch Plugin Manager, the one plugin, what’s the total count in the site? Got three plugins. Three. Nothing else to buy. One plugin you can use it on your host or our hosting, it’s $97 or $197. If you buy the $197 you have unlimited email help, you also get the CDN and the security you’ve chosen to go with the hosted for a lot of reasons.
The Complete Workflow: From Call to Published Content
Here’s what we demonstrated today – the complete workflow from conversation to published content:
- Live Call: We’re having a conversation on StreamYard, broadcasting live to YouTube
- Fathom Integration: The call is automatically transcribed and brought into the site
- Contact Extraction: AI analyzes the transcript and extracts contact information
- Email Creation: AI creates a follow-up email based on the conversation
- CRM Automation: Contact is automatically added to FluentCRM with tags
- Thumbnail Generation: AI creates a thumbnail image during the live call
- YouTube Description: AI generates an optimized YouTube description from the transcript
- Publishing: Everything is ready to publish while still live on the call
This is how I do it. This is how you can do it. The entire workflow from conversation to published content, all happening in real-time, all automated, all saved and reusable.
Doug’s Experience: From Skeptic to Believer
Doug is a geek from the same generation as me. When we met, Doug was like, “I want to see his a nice way.” He knew too much. He was dangerous because he was trying to bring a lot of his metaphors forward. But to his credit, he fully converted and he is like one of my best clients and fans at the moment, because he’s doing things the right way.
Doug’s feedback: “It would have taken me hours probably or you know, or something like that to be able to generate it and to be able to use the agentic tool right there and just drop in what I want and build this page. I’m off to the races.” Doug is building a platform for hundreds of clients, and this workflow makes it possible.

00:00:06 – Hey, it’s Spence, the evil genius. Oh, yes, it is.
00:00:12 – And today I’m joined with my good friend and client, Doug. Hi, Doug. Hey, how are you, Spence? Happy New Year to you.
00:00:18 – We’ve been talking for a while today, actually. But you’re here. Doug and I were working together since before the New Year on a new project. I’m not going to go into the details of the project, but something to do with Formula One racing junior drivers, something really cool that’s a scalable thing.
00:00:37 – And one of the things that I love with Doug is that Doug is a geek from the same generation as me. And he’s a convert because when we met Doug, you were like, “I want to see his a nice way.” You knew too much. You were dangerous because you’re trying to bring a lot of your metaphors forward. But to your credit, you fully converted and you are like one of my best clients and fans at the moment, because you’re doing things the right way.
00:01:08 – What we’re going to show today is that Doug is one of the first users of simple site for what he’s building out, which is a platform for race car drivers and their promotion and media and so forth. And what I wanted to share with Doug, which was why I slept him into this conversation was there’s some new tools that work in the browser that also work with simple site. And I think this is going to be really remarkable for everybody for a combination of tools.
00:01:52 – We literally pushed a button, started a site, put one plug in in and Doug, tell me if I’m not being faithful, three minutes. The whole thing is set up. Yeah, three, five, three, five minutes. We were rocking with something that previously even for the basics, I’m going to say would have been two to three hours of minimum with knowledge, right?
